TASK
This year's competition was themed "Bauhaus goes AI" and artists had the opportunity to create a 30-second video on the topic of AI for the façade of the Bauhaus Museum in Weimar.
In terms of content, the artists were able to explore the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and, of course, design media content using AI tools. The result was numerous exciting and creative submissions dealing with one of the most current topics of our time.
A total of more than 50 works on the topic of AI were submitted from all over the world. The winners were determined by a public vote and a jury of experts and each received prize money of €5,000.
SOLUTION
Media Architecture Meets Artificial Intelligence. The three winning videos of the Genius Loci Festival linked the topics of "Bauhaus" and "AI" (Artificial Intelligence) under an artistic aspect and not only partially created a first access to art in the context of Artificial Intelligence for the viewer, but also created creative content in terms of art and content with their videos, which took up various topics and translated them into impressive façade projections, thus bringing the Bauhaus Museum to life.
A total of three works were selected by the jury in the run-up to the festival and won this year's competition. "Deep.Redux" by Latenter Raum, "Symmetry Unveiled" by Vali Chincișan and "Bauhaus Resonance - Past Presence Future" by Lucid Collective.
Since the video mapping show was played several times a day, it was important to automate the playback control for resource reasons alone. StageDesigner's playlist principle made it possible to control the various functions in the form of cues, so that, among other things, the projectors could be activated day after day without human intervention.
It was a special pleasure for MXWendler to use FXServer and StageDesigner in the new Bauhaus Museum. The artists are closely connected with our company history and our claim to the medium video: Technology meets art, meets architecture, meets media, meets forms and light.
