Historic buildings, towers, products, cars: the FXServer plays many projectors from one device, the mapping tool fits the image to any surface on site, and the schedule runs the show several times an evening automatically. Technical partner of Genius Loci Weimar since 2012.
Where a building becomes the screen
- City events and anniversaries: projection instead of fireworks, as for the 130th Hamburger Dom on the flak tower

Mapping on site, show on a schedule
Mapping tool
Keystone, perspective, grid, soft edge, black level and freehand masks right on site. Where auto-calibration fails on columns and curves, manual mapping is done within an hour.
Many projectors, one server
Up to 16 outputs from one FXServer, several servers in sync. In 2015 one FXServer drove 14 projectors on the Gauforum Weimar, MXWendler's largest outdoor projection.
30,000 lumens and more
Facades call for high-brightness projectors in weatherproof towers or lockable boxes. We plan positions, distances and permits with you.
Schedule
The show runs at 20:00, 20:30 and 21:00, projectors are switched per cue. Over nights and weeks fully automated; after a power cut the server restarts.
Control and light
DMX, Art-Net, OSC and MIDI connect lighting desk, audio and LED chains. In the Biennale pavilion in São Paulo the FXServer drove the light chains directly over Art-Net.
Live images
Cameras over SDI or NDI are mixed with content, text and graphics, for openings, speeches and audience actions.
Historic facades every September, fully automated
MXWendler has been the festival's technical partner since 2012. International artists play the Bauhaus Museum, the National Theatre, the Gauforum and other places in the city. The shows run several times per evening, the projectors are switched through the playlist, and nobody has to be on site. In 2021 "Rhythm and Line" by Flightgraf won the Video Mapping Award; in 2023 more than 50 entries came in for "Bauhaus goes AI".

Video mapping
Who does the mapping onto the facade?
We do, if you wish: planning, content production, projectors, mapping on site and operation. Or you bring your own content and set up the mapping yourself with StageDesigner; our free online trainings show you how.
Does the show run automatically?
Yes. Schedules in StageDesigner start and stop the show at fixed times and switch the projectors. After a power cut the server boots again automatically and loads the project.
How many projectors do I need for a facade?
That depends on surface, distance and ambient light. For the flak tower in Hamburg it was six projectors of 30,000 lumens each on two FXServers. With a photo, dimensions and a site sketch we calculate a configuration.
Can I rent a media server for just one event?
Yes. We rent FXServer, GastspielServer and StageDesigner licences for days, weeks or the duration of a festival, with operator and technical support on request. Rental prices on request, rental is credited on purchase.
Does mapping work on cars and curved objects?
Yes. Perspective correction, grid and freehand masks fit the image to car bodies, columns and curves. The Rover Show in Leipzig ran on three outputs from one FXServer.
